After his short time with The Beatles, Jimmie Nicol reformed his former band, The Shubdubs, under the name Jimmie Nicol and The Shubdubs. Kaj Paustian, who at that time was head of Le Carrousel in Copenhagen, managed to bring the group to Denmark in the autumn of 1964.
Exactly which musicians were in Denmark is unknown, but back in England the group consisted of these people:
Tony Allen – vocals, harmonica
Bob Garner – Bass
Roger Coulam – Organ
Johnny Harris – Trumpet
Quincy Davis – Saxophone
Jimmie Nicol - Drums
First gig of the tour was on October 31st from 8 to 11 pm, at Club Dynamite which was located at the Hotel Stevns in St. Heddinge. They were supported by The Beatmakers, who took the stage after The Shubdubs, from 11pm to 1am. Around 600 people participated.
That same evening, at midnight, The Shubdubs played at the Joker's Club, located at the Hotel Axelhus in Næstved. Support was The Flames. Around 300 people participated.
On November 1st, a week-long event started at Le Carrousel in Copenhagen, where the group played a set every night. Le Carrousel was different from most other clubs, since they had seating and serving of alcohol.
On November 7th at 7.30 pm, they played at the Frederiksværk Pop-Klub, located at the Grand Hotel. Support was The Twisters, The Playboys, The Helions, The Heartless and Firkløverne.
Later the same evening they played at the Holte Teen Club, located in Holte Hallen.
On November 8th at 7.30 pm, the last night of the tour, they played at the 'Blue Star Club', located at Lindeskolen in Ballerup. Support was The Beefeaters, The Fourleaved Clover, The Helions and The Rocking Chain.
Unfortunately, we have not been able to find tickets, pictures or eyewitnesses from the concerts.
When we were about to record our (Peter Belli & Les Rivals) first single, Move on/Got love if you want it for Triola records, our manager, Jørn Adrian, suggested that we should try to get Jimmie Nicol to play drums. A few months earlier Jimmie had toured with The Beatles as a substitute for Ringo Starr, who was on sick leave, and that temporary position had brought him fame. Since Jørn thought it could generate press coverage and arouse interest in the single, he contacted Jimmie, who played with his own band for several days in the Le Carrousel in Copenhagen. Jimmie agreed, and that's how it happened! I only have the press photo that was taken in the studio. Jimmie was aimable and really talented. He fully understood our nervousness about being in the studio for the first time, and being with a world-famous musician who had just played with The Beatles. He made it quite easy for us to relax though. 'Just follow me', he said, and that's what we did.
